the strategic silence of wildbirds and peacedrums

Paper Thin Walls had an MP3 up of the song "Doubt/Hope" by the Norwegian band Wildbirds and Peacedrums. It's oddness and goodness stems from the fact that the duo have only drums and vox but arrange the song as if it were a full on blazing garage rock anthem. Singer Mariam Wallentin does a decent Bett Ditto-like r&b queen singing (until the not so great end of the track) while the peculiar EQing on the drums makes the whole track seem like someone just left the "mute" button on distorted guitar and bouncing bass. The phantom sound overwhelms (me), reminding me of those weird "Shreds" Youtube videos or that bizarre Van Halen track that was just circulating in which are friend Diamond Dave sings sans band in what is truly a superego free moment of rock excess, read: awesomeness.

I have just decided that it would be a fun experiment to do a "caged birds and wardrums" remix of this track, writing my own guitar and bass parts so that the two parts could fit together like a jigsaw. Watchout, it might happen.
