So, I've been studying for my written exams in ethnomusicology...coming this Friday. In my endless reading of the mostly unfortunate 19th century evolutionist founding of the discipline and subsequent 20th century struggle to find some common ground for research object, I found this very, very cool archive of 1930s California folk songs made by Sidney Robertson Cowell as the California Folk Music Project (another WPA era gem).

Yes, she's was the (ex)wife of fierce weirdo Henry Cowell, and oh yes, she is fierce in her own right. Enjoy while I toil on...
